magical jellybeans and lollipops

When I saw this post on See Jane Blog last year, I couldn't wait to start this Easter tradition with my kids. What a brilliant and fun idea. I modified it slightly by planting the jellybeans and lollipops in a pot with Easter grass, instead of outside. You can do whatever works best for you! The night before the Easter bunny comes, have your children "plant" a special magical jellybean in a pot, and in the morning it will have grown into a lollipop! The kids are going to LOVE this and I can't wait to do it every year. Their faces will be priceless in the morning. Here's what you need:

What you'll need (quantity needed will depend on how many kiddos you have):

pot
easter grass
jellybean
lollipop

Directions:

Get a pot and fill it with Easter Grass.

Get a jellybean (or more if you have more kids) and put it in a special bag. Tell your kids you found these special magical jellybeans and they are so rare. You are so lucky to have found them!! Tell them that these magical jellybeans, if planted on Easter Eve (is that a day??) will grow into lollipops by the morning!!

Have your kiddos "plant" their jellybean in the Easter grass.

While they are sleeping, make sure their jellybean grows into a lollipop. If you're having trouble getting the lollipop to stand up in the pot, put a little playdoh in the bottom of the pot and stick the lollipop stick in the playdoh.

Watch their little amazed faces in the morning when they see a lollipop in their pot. I can't wait to do this and I think I'm going to make it a yearly tradition. SO. MUCH. FUN!

  6. Fun idea! You have such cute projects on your blog. I looked up "Easter Eve" and it looks like it's celebrated. According to Wikipedia:
"Holy Saturday (Latin: Sabbatum Sanctum) is the day after Good Friday. It is the day before Easter and the last day of Holy Week, in which Christians prepare for Easter. This day commemorates the day that Jesus Christ's body laid in the tomb."

  7. What a cute idea! I may get some pots at Michaels' and let the kids paint their own pot, too. Where did you get the lollipops? They are adorable, too.

  15. Thank-you so much ladies! For those wondering about the lollipops - I actually got them at Winner's, which is a Canadian store. Kind of similar to a TJ Maxx in the U.S.

  21. I like your blog. It is full of fun ideas. I especially like this jellybean-lollipop idea. I'm compiling a list at my blog of Easter stuff parents can do with their kids. I've included this idea here and linked to this page. The list should be published sometime this week. I'm also following you now on google friends.
