sandpaper starfish

This was another super fun summer craft. I picked up some cheap sandpaper at the dollar store, cut out some starfish shapes, and the kids had a blast decorating them with glue and glitter. So simple and so cute. I just love the texture the sandpaper gives these starfish. The kids thought the sandpaper was really cool too. They hadn't felt that rough paper before. Here's how we made them:

What you'll need:

sandpaper
regular paper
scissors
glue
glitter
googly eyes

Directions:

1. cut some starfish shapes out of your sandpaper
2. glue your starfish on some regular paper - we used pretty scrapbook paper that Kirsten thought looked like water
3. cover the front of your starfish in glue
4. sprinkle your starfish with all kinds of glitter
5. once your starfish have been sufficiently glittered up, shake off the excess over the sink or a garbage
6. glue on some googly eyes and put on a glitter glue smile
7. allow to dry
