magic milk art

This is a great rainy day indoor activity or a great sunny summer day outdoor activity. This little activity requires next to nothing to do (you more than likely have everything you need already at home), and is really neat. Just remember that food colouring can stain, so if you do this activity indoors, please take the necessary precautions! We did this indoors and the kiddos had a blast. It was so fun to mix the colours and see what magical masterpiece they created!! Here's what you need:

What you'll need:

milk (I used homogenized, but you can experiment with any kind)
liquid food colouring
a plate or shallow bowl
a toothpick

Directions:

1. pour some milk on a plate or shallow bowl.

2. squirt a few drops of several colours of food colouring in the milk.

3. using a toothpick, swirl the colours together. Experiment doing different motions with while mixing the colours to see what results you get.

4. Rinse the plate and repeat!!

  1. I have only done the experiment with oil, milk and food coloring. I like this variation.

    1. Lol! I know. I used homogenized milk for this though and didn't want to buy 3 bags of it since it isn't what we drink. I bought a small carton instead :-)
