Oh my goodness, I'm in love. Having not seen Disney/Pixar's movie, BRAVE, when it was in the theatre, I was just delighted when I was contacted to review the new BRAVE Ultimate Collector's Edition 5-Disc set. It was a movie that I was anxiously awaiting it's debut on DVD for a chance to see it!
BRAVE is a gorgeously animated movie that did not disappoint. It's also not your average Disney Princess movie either. The heart of the movie is female independence. The movie is set in the beautiful Scottish Highlands and it's main character, Merida, is a strong-willed teenager who is a skilled archer and horse-back rider. Merida is not happy with her clan's age-old tradition to have the Scottish Lords first-born sons compete for her hand in marriage. Merida is determined to change her fate, much to her mother's despair.
Merida turns to a witch for help and that witch grants her one wish. That one wish was not what Merida had intended and then she finds herself in a race against time to mend the bond that had been torn with her mother. Merida must discover the true meaning of bravery before it's too late.
This was an incredible movie to watch with my daughter. It encompasses everything about the mother/teenage daugther relationship and the struggle it can be. But don't worry boys, there are plenty of action-packed scenes and humor for you too. Some of the scenes can be frightening to small children, so be prepared. My daugther turned her head a few times during the scary scenes, but mostly her eyes were glued to the screen the whole time.
I am thrilled to give away one of these Ultimate Collector's Edition 5-Disc set to one of you! This 5-Disc set includes Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray 3D, DVD, Digital Copy and Bonuses. This movie will be released November 13th, 2012 in stores.

There are far too many favorites that I loved as a child and even still as an adult for me to choose from! 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Beauty and the Beast' always struck chords with me, and I love the fact that they also have become favorites for my children, as well. Disney/Pixar are and always will be my very favorite production and animation companies for quality entertainment with wonderful life lessons for young and old :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a loaded question! There are simply too many great Disney Pixar movies to be able to narrow a favorite down to just one! But, our family is very fond of Finding Nemo, as that is the film that both of my boys loved to watch over and over again when they were toddlers. To this day, we still run around the house chasing them saying "Mine? Mine! Mine? Mine!"... tee hee. Yes we are geeks.
ReplyDeleteMonsters Inc is my favorite because it was the very first we took our daughter to and as two year old she was entranced.
