Disney/Pixar’s BRAVE review and giveaway

Oh my goodness, I’m in love. Having not seen Disney/Pixar’s movie, BRAVE, when it was in the theatre, I was just delighted when I was contacted to review the new BRAVE Ultimate Collector’s Edition 5-Disc set. It was a movie that I was anxiously awaiting it’s debut on DVD for a chance to see it!

BRAVE is a gorgeously animated movie that did not disappoint. It’s also not your average Disney Princess movie either. The heart of the movie is female independence. The movie is set in the beautiful Scottish Highlands and it’s main character, Merida, is a strong-willed teenager who is a skilled archer and horse-back rider. Merida is not happy with her clan’s age-old tradition to have the Scottish Lords first-born sons compete for her hand in marriage. Merida is determined to change her fate, much to her mother’s despair.

Merida turns to a witch for help and that witch grants her one wish. That one wish was not what Merida had intended and then she finds herself in a race against time to mend the bond that had been torn with her mother. Merida must discover the true meaning of bravery before it’s too late.

This was an incredible movie to watch with my daughter. It encompasses everything about the mother/teenage daugther relationship and the struggle it can be. But don’t worry boys, there are plenty of action-packed scenes and humor for you too. Some of the scenes can be frightening to small children, so be prepared. My daugther turned her head a few times during the scary scenes, but mostly her eyes were glued to the screen the whole time.

I am thrilled to give away one of these Ultimate Collector’s Edition 5-Disc set to one of you! This 5-Disc set includes Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray 3D, DVD, Digital Copy and Bonuses. This movie will be released November 13th, 2012 in stores.

I took my daughter and her girlfriends to see this for her birthday. They loved it and I bawled like a baby! I didn’t know it was going to be a mother-daughter relationship movie. :-)

  2. Amy

I didn’t get a chance to take my daughter to see this in the theater. Id love to transform our living room into a theater for her ♥

  3. Kristin

We missed this in theaters, too, and I was so bummed! I love all Disney movies and still have no issues watching them with my kids for the hundredth time. Currently, out house favorite is Hercules.

It’s really hard to pick just one favorite Disney/Pixar movie, so I’ll give you the top 3 in my daughter’s rotation right now: The Lion King, Tangled, Bambi.

Oh my goodness, I may even love Disney movies more than the kids! :) My very favorite right now is Lady And The Tramp. I go through phases.
My kids would LOVE to see this movie under the Christmas tree this year!
    Thanks for the giveaway!

I LOVE Tarzan because I had 3 little boys all under 4 years old when it came out and we watched it over and over and over. My daughter is watching it right now :)

I haven’t seen that movie yet but I really want to! My son is only 9 months old so taking him to a theater is not a good idea. My fav Pixar would probably be Monsters Inc! So cute!

  8. Keri

I love all of the princess movies! I would say that right now my favorite is Tangled! I seem to never tire of it even though my girls want to watch it constantly!

There are far too many favorites that I loved as a child and even still as an adult for me to choose from! ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ always struck chords with me, and I love the fact that they also have become favorites for my children, as well. Disney/Pixar are and always will be my very favorite production and animation companies for quality entertainment with wonderful life lessons for young and old :)

That is a loaded question! There are simply too many great Disney Pixar movies to be able to narrow a favorite down to just one! But, our family is very fond of Finding Nemo, as that is the film that both of my boys loved to watch over and over again when they were toddlers. To this day, we still run around the house chasing them saying “Mine? Mine! Mine? Mine!”… tee hee. Yes we are geeks.

my husband and i took our little girls to see brave in the theater, but OF COURSE my youngest just HAD to go to the potty at the very end of the movie. i would love to see the last 10 minutes!

my all time fave disney movie… that’s a hard one. i love toy story 2, but i also think that the emperor’s new groove is highly under appreciated!

  13. Tara

Oh, we LOVED Brave … loved it! But other favorites are Tangled and Beauty and Beast and The Little Mermaid and Cinderella … okay, maybe we love them all.

  14. Anne

Brave is my current favorite. I just love that there isn’t a “boyfriend” character. The independent, fiery, brave girl role model is exactly what I want for my three daughters. :)

  15. Tish

Toy Story is my favorite. I remember seeing it in the theater and just completely falling in love with it! Toy Story 2 is a close second but it makes me cry. : )

  16. Shaunna

We love Toy Story 2 here – but recently, my fave Disney movie was Tangled. I can’t wait to see Brave! We were away when it came into theatres and haven’t had a chance to see it yet! Would LOVE to add this one under the tree next month!! Thanks for the giveaway!
