this week in bento boxes

Happy Sunday everyone! This week is my kids last week of school and I can’t wait! The countdown is on – just 4 days left. I’m honestly looking forward to having a little school lunch making break to get some creativity back. My creativity is feeling pretty drained right now, lol. Here are some bento boxes that the kiddos enjoyed this week, as well as a fun new box I got – the Yumbox!

The yumbox is a really fun bento box for kids! It’s easy to open and close, leakproof, and has divided compartments to help make lunch packing easy. Each divided section is perfectly portioned for it’s food group. The kids have been loving it – and so have I!

This first yumbox bento was packed for Camden’s afternoon nutrition break. He had salami roll-ups, alphabet cheez-its, cucumber and carrot spears, fresh raspberries with a cute giraffe pick and some vanilla yogurt. I snuck some fruit snacks in the small little circle for a little treat!

This sweet little yumbox bento was for Kirsten’s afternoon nutrition break. She had ham rolls with flower picks, butterfly crackers, flower-shaped cucumbers with butterfly spinach leaves, fresh pineapple and shredded cheese. The tiny circle in the middle held some sunflower seeds.

This funny man lunch was for Cam’s afternoon nutrition break. I cut the crusts off a sandwich so it fit it one compartment and added icing eyes, a carrot nose and a fun mustache pick. The other section held sliced cucumbers, sliced baby carrots and fresh raspberries.

This fun little Hello Kitty bento was for Kirsten’s afternoon nutrition break and was packed in a new Hello Kitty bento box we got. I cut the crusts off a sandwich so it fit in one compartment. I added a cute piece of Hello Kitty baran on top for easy and instant cuteness. The other section held cucumber spears, carrot spears and fresh raspberries. I also added a cute Hello Kitty pick.

And finally, a really cute and easy morning nutrition break bento packed in our steeltainer snack container. One section held a rectangle silicone muffin cup with a sliced cereal bar. The other section held some fresh sliced naval oranges and fresh sliced strawberries with a cute bear pick.

These are the supplies I used to make these lunches:

The Yumbox can be purchased at Amazon, although it’s currently out of stock. New shipments will be happening soon. You can check it out here.

Fun lunches and congratulations on your children’s pending summer break! So I have a question regarding the yumbox VS the yubo lunchbox. I have been eyeing both for a long while and had finally decided to pull the trigger on the yubo for a few reasons (the most important being that until recently, they weren’t in stock and my son needed something for summer camp) but still love the idea of the yumbox. Here is my question… what the top pros and cons of each and if you were only going to pick one to own (mostly because of cost to own both is a whole lot), which would you pick? Feel free to email me…!
Also, I wanted to say that you and a few other bento/fun food moms are such an inspiration in the making of my son’s lunches… I just made him a fun Mickey Mouse lunch for our countdown to our next Disney vacation. (Stop by my blog if you wanna take a look at it) Thank you for taking the time to share your work… I enjoy your ideas!

Thanks Momma Jo! They are normally sold on Amazon, but seem to be out of stock at the moment. They will be getting more in shortly though – and pink ones too!
