Hello Spring!

Pin It I am beyond thrilled to welcome Spring today! Yes, I live in Canada, and yes, I hate Winter. If it were an option, I would totally hibernate inside all winter long. We have had such a gorgeous week here, it's almost too good to be true. I'm skeptical that we've seen the last of our snow for this year. The Lung Association was selling tulips at work last week and I couldn't resist scooping some up. Nothing says Spring to me like beautiful tulips in bloom. Gorgeous. I had to snap a few pics of them, and here they are:

pretty daffodil

Pin It Since there are absolutely no signs of Spring outside (it snowed here yesterday!), I decided to bring Spring inside. The Canadian Cancer Society was at my work last week selling daffodils, and I of course had to pick some up. Here's a few pics I took.

beautiful orchids

Pin It Oh, how I love orchids. When I heard a local greenhouse had lots of orchids in bloom, I couldn't resist a trip down there to take some photos. I was not disappointed. So many beautiful orchids - I was in heaven. Here are some of my favourites (and yes, I know it's a lot, but I had a hard time narrowing it down!)

my beautiful new orchid

And yet another picture I put in my header that I'm finally getting around to posting. My wonderful hubby got me this beautiful orchid for my birthday last month. I had so many Christmas things to post that I haven't had a chance to share these pictures I took yet. I really like the way these turned out and I love how bright and colourful they are. I put a piece of turquoise cardstock behind the flower and took some pictures. I really love these - they might be my favourite flower pictures yet.

On another note, I've heard from one of my fabulous followers that ever since my blog makeover, the post title is blackened out. Is this happening to anyone else? It isn't happening on my computer and I have no idea how to fix it.

calla lilies for my Grandma

Pin It This will be short and sweet because I am not good with things like this. Today was my Grandma's funeral. I took this calla lily from her casket as they laid her to rest. I felt that by taking it's picture it would help preserve this memory for me. I love you and miss you dearly Grandma. Thank-you for all the wonderful times and memories we shared. I am so blessed to have had you in my life.

lovely lilies

Pin It So my sister's kids and my kids had a playdate today. Camden didn't want to play with the girls at all and was really fussy so it wasn't a total success, but I did get some pictures of some of my sister's lovely lilies. You see she has an amazing variety (like over 100 lily species, or something crazy like that) and she can name them all if you ask her. I wish I was that interested in gardening, but unfortunately I hate it. I love flowers, but hate the work that goes into taking care of them (except my orchids of course!). Does that make sense? Anyway, who needs a lovely garden when I can just go to her house and snap pics. Easy peasy. Here's just a few from today:

finding beauty in the world

Pin It It's amazing to me that just taking a few steps out my patio doors finds me some of the most beautiful creations in the world. Flowers are just amazing to me. The dramatic colours, the intricate details, the uniqueness, and the amazing variety. They truly are an exceptional creation. Here's just a few I took this week from my backyard. I really need to take a trip to my sisters's backyard (Jen, are you listening?) because she has the most amazing garden around. I could take pictures for hours back there.

beautiful backyard bokeh

I brought out my camera in the backyard the other day and took some pictures of some of the beautiful flowers. I just love the fabulous circular bokeh I got on these shots. Bokeh is a photographic term that means "the pleasing quality of the out of focus areas of an image produced by a lens. Derived from the Japanese word boke, "blurred," this term is sometimes used to describe the deliberate blurring of areas of a photo to create a sense of depth." Beautiful! Pin It

look what I got

Pin It James bought me a beautiful orchid. Ok, let's rephrase that. James gave me his bankcard and told me to go in the store and pick out an orchid for myself. Yes, I am that picky and he has learned well. Thanks honey!! Isn't she pretty?
